Hey there, I’m Sydney!
Born and raised in Las Vegas, I’m a twenty-something that was bit by the travel bug young — I spent 2017-2018 living in Japan on exchange, and I hope to return for a few more years at least. While there, I want to teach English, improve my Japanese, and travel as much as possible! 🌏
Some of the things I love include One Ok Rock, ramen, rainy days, tuna nigiri, books, fashion, and photography. Lately I’m a sucker for handbags and high heels. ✨ I also love baking shows and attending concerts.
This blog serves as a place for me to talk about my journey back to Japan as well as my journey in it. I think the world is a big beautiful place, and I hope I can encourage more people to travel! 💕
About this Blog
The name comes from the word komorebi in Japanese, which means “sunlight filtering through the trees.” I slightly adjusted the English version, but the meaning remains the same to me — I’m looking for a little komorebi in my life. 🌿
I started this blog in January 2019 after I realized my return to the States was more jarring and mentally affecting than I’d originally bargained for. I decided it would be a good idea to start writing my journey down, and thus this blog was born. It’s powered by WordPress and Of Blue.
